Representing Primary Care Respiratory PolicyWith its growing reputation and influence the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK has become increasingly involved with influencing respiratory policy both nationally and locally. It provides a national, independent, authoritative voice for all members of the primary care respiratory team. Working in conjunction with others, such as the British Thoracic Society and the British Lung Foundation, the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK is striving hard to ensure respiratory medicine is given the priority it merits in national policy making and consequently as a local priority, for example through the Clinical Strategy for COPD (previously known as the National Service Framework) and other mechanisms. Through our website and e-alert system members can submit their views so that we can be sure we represent our members in key consultations such as the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF) of the GMS contract and National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence appraisals and guidance.
