Supporting Information - End of Life Care
It may be useful to consider which patients could be identified for end-of-life care. There are several key contributing factors that can alert a clinician to a patient’s increased risk of mortality. These include: FEV1< 30% predicted, history of two exacerbations requiring hospital admission, MRC Score 5, low BMI, a history of established respiratory failure or prior non-invasive ventilation. An end-of-life care DVD has been produced by IMPRESS (Primary Care Respiratory Society UK / BTS) which covers many of the important issues relating to end of life care. |
| This series of resources has been produced as a service to primary care by the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK (PCRS-UK) and has been supported by an educational grant from Allen & Hanburys, AstraZeneca UK Ltd and Boehringer Ingelheim Ltd/Pfizer Ltd.
