Primary Care Respiratory Society UK Allergy UK Asthma/Allergic Rhinitis Tool A simple 6 point asthma and allergic rhinitis status measure for use in an asthma review to assess asthma control. Allergy UK’s Night and Day Report A report (2005), endorsed by the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK, highlighting the results of a survey of 1000 people with allergic rhinitis . Best practice in community pulmonary rehabilitation Recommendations, endorsed by the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK, from a meeting held in July 2005 with the aim of sharing Best Practice in terms of developing community pulmonary rehabilitation programmes. Bridging the Gap A report produced in 2005, endorsed by the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK, highlighting the burden of respiratory, written to support the commissioning of and delivering of quality integrated respiratory healthcare. Flu Pandemic Information The Primary Care Respiratory Journal (PCRJ), the official journal of the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK and IPCRG, commissioned two articles in 2006 on the Flu Pandemic with a special ediorial on Avian Influenza. The authors of the review paper (Lee Gan Goh and Pak Yan Chong) concluded that primary care healthcare professionals must update staff and patients alike on appropriate infection control measures and suitable avoidance measures. Primary Care Managed Community Acquired Pneumonia Aide Memoir This useful resource, endorsed by the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK, produced in 2007, is in the form of a ‘care bundle’ that summarises the critical evidence based actions that need to be taken based on the British Thoracic Society Guideline for the Management of Adult Pneumonia (2004) and SIGN Guideline 59, Community Management of Lower Respiratory Tract Infections in Adults. Business Toolkit - Making the Case for Education and Training Education for Health have produced a toolkit called ‘How To Make Your Case For Education and Training’ which offers nurses a simple, effective way to produce business cases to successfully secure funds for their continuing professional development. It contains evidence based, disease specific business proposals for nurses to use to establish their current levels of knowledge, understanding and experience, and plan development of their competencies within the framework of the health needs of their practice population in a way which is meaningful to the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF), the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) and National Workforce Competencies. Respiratory competence framework A Competence Framework report and other resources have been developed by Skills for Health and the Department of Health in collaboration with PCRS-UK and other respiratory charities. It is designed to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to provide patient centred respiratory care and may be of use for those planning services and those with responsibility to manage and develop a highly skilled workforce. |
