Helping to Maintain the Enthusiasm
Keeping your group going....
Many of the support materials available in the start-up pack can be adapted for future meetings. The key challenge to maintaining the enthusiasm of your group is to find topics and speakers which will interest the attendees, expand the group to encompass more disciplines and to motivate everyone to deliver their action plans.
The momentum and motivation of the group can come from within the group itself or be driven by:
What is happening in the local healthcare environment regarding respiratory disease directly, for example:
- implementing new or updated asthma guidelines
- developing a pulmonary rehabilitation service
- iimplementing the National Strategy for COPD
or by using national or local health policies to gain momentum in respiratory disease, for example:
- engaging clinicians by developing respiratory networks
- developing care pathways in asthma or COPD
- reducing unplanned or emergency admissions by focusing on patients with respiratory disease
There is no end of opportunities to improve the care of such patients. By establishing a local nurse group, the range of topics for future meetings is endless, they just need channelling to meet the needs of the local community over time. EMAIL or call the PCRS-UK Operations Team (0121 629 7741) and we will put you in touch with another experienced nurse group leader who can discuss new ideas and suggestions with you.
The Primary Care Respiratory Society UK is grateful to Allen & Hanburys, the specialist respiratory division of GlaxoSmithKline and Boehringer Ingelheim Ltd/Pfizer Ltd for the provision of educational grants towards the funding of the PCRS-UK nurse programme. Neither Allen & Hanburys nor Boehringer Ingelheim Ltd/Pfizer Ltd have had any input into the content of this programme
