Alder hey Childrens hospital

Dr Rebecca Thursfield is a consultant in Paediatric Respiratory medicine at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Trust where she jointly leads the respiratory physiology service. She specialises in Cystic Fibrosis, respiratory complications of immunodeficiencies and of oesophageal atresia/tracheoesophageal fistula. Along with 3 other members of the respiratory multidisciplinary team, Dr Thursfield is part of the transition team working continuously improve and streamline transition to adult services working with adult teams and with the young people to empower them. She and one the clinical psychologists jointly lead a programme looking at moving from primary to secondary care and empowering them for this move. Dr Thursfield also has a particular interest in clinical research and is currently principal investigator for 3 pharmaceutical clinical trials as well as leading 2 of her own research projects. She is the associate research director for the Division of Medicine at Alder Hey.
