Paul Walker
Consultant Respiratory Physician
Liverpool University Hospitals, Sefton Community
Dr Paul Walker is a consultant respiratory physician in Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust and Sefton Community Respiratory Team. He is current Chair of The British Thoracic Society, having previously been Chair of Education and Training for the BTS. His clinical interests are COPD, bronchiectasis, pulmonary physiology and pulmonary rehabilitation and he has published research in all these areas. He has a long-standing interest in health inequality and the impact of social deprivation on health access and outcomes. He has led work looking at the presence of COPD and asthma in heroin smokers and examining access to and engagement with healthcare in these populations. Part of his work time is spent working in an integrated community respiratory service and he is Diagnostics Lead for Merseyside and Cheshire ICB.
