The Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology (ARTP), through standards of training and quality assurance, are the professional guardians of physiological measurement issues in respiratory medicine in the UK. With over 35 years of experience in the design and delivery of lung function services, ARTP provides the only national, professionally recognised, qualifications in Respiratory Function Testing and Spirometry in the UK.ARTP also recommends standards for the design and delivery of lung function services through position papers from ARTP Working Groups on the structure, function and content of lung function facilities in the UK.An important function of the ARTP is the provision of opportunities for Continuing Professional Development. The National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT) is a social enterprise committed to support the delivery of effective evidence-based tobacco control programmes and smoking cessation interventions provided by local stop smoking services.
The NCSCT works with and for the field to deliver training and assessment programmes, support services for local and national providers and conducts research into behavioural support for smoking cessation.

Respiratory Matters has been approved as an NCFE Investing in Quality (IIQ) centre to give formal recognition to our courses. This licence gives assurance that the content of each diploma is of a high standard and meets the rigorous accreditation requirements of a national awarding organisation. The diploma modules are delivered by face-to-face teaching, and supported with distance learning materials and e mail/telephone support. The assessments include audit and the development of protocols in practice, and are therefore an integral part of general practice. There is no unseen examination.
