PCRS Respiratory Conference 2019

For this first time this year PCRS in conjunction with its conference partners is running a series of parallel discipline specific sessions at the PCRS Respiratory Conference 2019 to complement the otherwise multidisciplinary programme.

These sessions will enable members of the different disciplines to discuss topical respiratory issues relevant to their profession such as how to make the most of opportunities that are being created by the changing NHS environment, what the future holds and how to find professional support. They will also provide the opportunity to meet and learn from colleagues who are doing a similar role to yourself.

The sessions are:

  • Respiratory physiotherapists: This session, run in conjunction with the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care, will discuss respiratory physiotherapy practice, issues and concerns, particularly with regards to pulmonary rehabilitation, the NHS Long Term Plan and accreditation; where we now and where are we going?
  • Respiratory specialist nurses: Run in conjunction with the Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists, this session will debate the multiple roles and titles attached to those delivering specialist respiratory care in an environment where the numbers of specialist nurses are reducing (or predicted to) and where patients are ever more complex.  Does the role of the specialist respiratory nurse need to be championed and protected?
  • Pharmacists: This session, run in conjunction with the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE), will discuss opportunities to work with primary care networks, the latest developments with the Lung Taskforce and how it links with the NHS Long Term Plan. This meeting will appeal to pharmacists from all sectors with a respiratory interest.
  • Academic Researchers:  Run by npjPrimary Care Respiratory Medicine, this session will host a question and answer session on how to publish your research with tips on article writing how to respond to reviewers, how to be a good reviewer yourself, why should you consider publishing Open Access and how to pay for it.
  • Integrated care clinicians - A session entitled ‘Integrated Care for Patient Benefit’ run in conjunction with Respiratory Futures, is for anyone who is working in an integrated role. Following some short presentations about developments in integrated services, there will be an opportunity to discuss in more detail where to find help and support for your work; how to access examples of good practice and helpful Quality Improvement tools.
  • GPs, practice nurses and other health professionals. Further information about this clinically orientated session designed specifically for generalist health professionals will be coming soon.

Alongside the above discipline specific sessions, we will also be offering a taster session on the popular PCRS clinical leadership programme, suitable for anyone keen to have a bigger impact on patient care, but has never been sure whether or not PCRS leadership programme is appropriate for them.

We have registration fees starting at £165 for nurses / allied health professionals and £250 for GPs who are PCRS members, plus the opportunity of a £100 bursary towards travel and accommodation.  These rates are also available to members of our conference partners: The British Thoracic Society (BTS), The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care (ACPRC), The Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists (ARNS) and Queens Nurses.

These Early Bird rates are only available until June 30th.

Non-members can also take advantage of substantial conference registration savings by joining online prior to registration.
