Welcome to the second PCRS research newsletter of 2020. We hope that you are all keeping well and coping during this challenging time. We recognise that the COVID-19 pandemic has presented researchers with some difficulties continuing with existing research projects and many studies have been put on hold. Research funding has been prioritised nationally to allow for the rapid implementation of novel and innovative projects to address the COVID-19 outbreak. We hope to discuss relevant studies in future newsletters, indeed if any readers would like to share their experience of either conducting their existing research in the current climate or have commenced new research on COVID-19 we would be most interested in hearing about this. In this newsletter we highlight a valuable new Lancet podcast from Hilary Pinnock about asthma management during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is also an update on research at the conference and exciting news about how the research stream will be presented. Summaries and links to new publications from researchers are presented with topics ranging from the benefits of contraception in asthma to dietary evaluations in COPD. Our rolling ‘Spotlight on…’ this time features the new Respiratory Research Centre at based at Edge Hill University in the north-west of England. I’m sure you’ll agree this is an excellent round up of some of our members and collaborators work. Please do get in touch if you would like to write a short article, share your research and news, or feature in our ‘Spotlight on…’ series in future! The newsletter is sent to members of the PCRS with an interest in research several times a year, but articles will be saved longer term on the research pages of the PCRS website. Enjoy!
