Is a personalised baseline for temperature useful?

Online peer self-management support in Asthma

Online peer self-management support in asthma has potential to be scaled up. At PCRS 2019 Anna De Simoni presented the results of a survey of superusers recruited through the Asthma UK OHC moderator. The survey shows that superusers (i.e. the top 1-5% active users) are responsible for holding OHCs together, engage with users with low posting activity, and indirectly contribute to increase link formation between community members.

The inspirational respiratory care centre in Rotherham known as Breathing Space held an open day on 20/11/19 to celebrate World COPD day and invited the Hull York Medical School to show the Bringing Breathlessness into View exhibition as part of it

Pre-conference research workshop

Once again this year we held a really successful workshop for early-mid career researchers.  This year's focus was on integrated care.  The workshop is a great opportunity to network with other researchers so watch out for next year's workshop and encourage your colleagues to attend

PCRS Conference and Abstracts Feedback

This year's PCRS conference once again offered a great chance to catch up with colleagues and attend a range of presentations with parallel sessions in clinical, research and practical skills.  Watch out for our conference proceedings  due out early in 2020 which includes the abstracts presented.  Make sure you save the dates for next year (25/26 Sept 2020)

Winning abstract 2019 

Morag Farquhar and the team of UEA, Norwich were awarded the winning abstract 2019 for her submission, "What informal carers of people living with breathlessness in advanced disease want to learn about “What to expect in the future”.  Morag presented the abstract at conference and was awarded a free place at 2020 and a processing fee waiver should her paper be accepted for npj PCRM

Spotlight on the SNAP team:  Morag Farquhar

Dr Morag Farquhar leads a programme of research to improve care and support for patients and their informal carers living with advanced disease, including the Learning about Breathlessness programme and the SNAP programme. Morag has collaborated and published with colleagues in the UK, Canada and Australia in the field of breathlessness in advanced disease and palliative care research methodology.
