Anna Spathis
Anna Spathis is an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary Consultant in Palliative Medicine at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Having trained and worked in hospital medicine, general practice and palliative medicine, her main clinical role since 2011 has been within the Cambridge Breathlessness Intervention Service (CBIS), the first transdiagnostic symptom-directed breathlessness service set up by Dr Sara Booth in 2003. Along with her CBIS colleagues, Anna developed the Breathing Thinking Functioning (BTF) model, a health professional educational tool to support breathlessness management. The CBIS team deliver several national and international breathlessness management study days each year. Anna co-leads the NIHR-funded PrimaryBreathe programme, which is developing and testing a primary care intervention for chronic breathlessness underpinned by the BTF model.
