Carla Astles

Carla moved into Primary care nursing within a year of qualifying and has enjoyed a range of roles. Carla's interest in respiratory started when tasked with setting up a respiratory clinic and stop smoking service whilst working as a primary care prison nurse. Her interest in respiratory soon turned into a passion as she moved back into General Practice. Carla worked with the Southampton Integrated COPD Team as a COPD Nurse educator for Primary Care (2013-2018) and as a Respiratory Nurse Researcher with Wessex CLAHRC (2014-2017). Carla is an independent nurse prescriber and trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner in General Practice. Carla loves her afternoon respiratory clinics and also runs the Southampton Airways Forum and is a member of the PCRS Affiliated Groups Committee.
