Christine Mwasuku

photo of Christine MwasukuChristine Mwasuku is a PhD candidate at King’s College London, specialising in respiratory and women’s health. Her doctoral research investigates the mechanisms by which oestrogen influences the pathophysiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), combining laboratory-based approaches with patient-focused methods. Christine is a trained respiratory specialist nurse in asthma and COPD and has led on several NIHR-funded studies, contributing to both clinical and qualitative research across multidisciplinary teams. She is currently the lead principal investigator of the ESSENTIAL study—an observational study exploring the relationship between oestrogen, asthma, and COPD. Christine has presented her work at national and international conferences and was recently awarded the Asthma + Lung UK Health Professionals Bursary in recognition of her research potential. She is passionate about research communication, healthcare equity, and fostering collaboration between clinicians, patients, and scientists.
