Technology has enabled practices to gather enormous amounts of data but the data is only valuable when it is used, interpreted and applied to help make things better. However, data, dashboards and numbers can be overwhelming. In this webinar, chaired by Dr Sarah Elkin and with speakers Dr Vince Mak and Dr Katherine Hickman, Chair of PCRS,  we will explore what data we can access, how we can use it to improve care, reduce backlogs, prioritise the most urgent cases, and help to reduce stress and workload. There are a number of simple searches and methods clinicians can use, and this webinar is for anyone that wants to understand how they can use data to their advantage. The webinar will cover data, dashboards (e.g GPes), how to use data without dashboards, implications for information governance and links to Investment and Impact Fund (IIF).

  • Katherine Hickman

    photo of Katherine HickmanKatherine qualified from Leeds University in 2000, initially completing a Medicine Rotation and gaining her MRCP before settling into General Practice. She is a GP Partner in Bradford and is the Primary Care Clinical Lead for the National Respiratory Audit Programme (NRAP). She is also a former Executive Chair of the Primary Care Respiratory Society (PCRS).

  • Vincent Mak

    photo of Vincent MakDr Vincent Mak is a Consultant in Respiratory Integrated Care at Imperial College Healthcare Trust.
    He was previously the Clinical Director of the NHS London Respiratory Clinical Network which helped coordinate respiratory services in London during the pandemic. He continues in the Network leading the accurate diagnosis workstream, helping to set up quality-assured spirometry services across London. He is the Clinical Lead and chairs the NHS London Procurement Partnership Rightbreathe.com Steering Group. He is a member of the Primary Care Respiratory Society Executive Committee and sits on the Service Developments and Policy Forum Groups.

  • Sarah Elkin

    photo of Sarah ElkinSarah Elkin is a Consultant Integrated Respiratory Consultant at Imperial College Healthcare Trust, where she is lead for COPD . She sits on the executive of the Primary Care Respiratory Society. She is  joint clinical director for the London respiratory network and is clinical lead for the COPD in neighbourhoods workstream of the respiratory transformation program.
    Her clinical and research interests are in COPD, integrated care and new models of care. She also loves theatre and bright sunny days.
