It is #AskAboutAsthma week 2026

Category

PCRS are proud to have supported NHS England London’s #AskAboutAsthma campaign over the years.

#AskAboutAsthma is back this September and is celebrating ten years. The campaign encourages children and young people, their families, and those involved in their care, to ensure four simple and effective measures to help them control their asthma.

Running from the 7th – 11th September, this week will reflect on how asthma care has evolved over the past decade and there will be a series of webinars on Every Child, Every Breath, and Every Neighbourhood.

The four asks

  1. Get an asthma action plan in place
  2. Understand how to use inhalers correctly
  3. Schedule an asthma review – every year and after every attack
  4. Consider air pollution and its impact on lung health

Get involved

  • Follow the campaign on Instagram: @bycp_nhsldn
  • Display and share campaign posters
  • Tell the team about the improvement you plan to make during September 2026
  • Share your achievements during October 2026
  • Use #AskAboutAsthma on social media and encourage colleagues and partners to get involved.

Use #AskAboutAsthma on social media leading up to and during the campaign week.

Looking ahead to the 'September Surge'

A marked rise in hospital admission rates for asthma among young people occurs during September and 'week 38' specifically. This is also known as the 'September Surge' and the #AskAboutAsthma campaign takes place the week prior to raise awareness of the issue.

Take some time this summer to prepare ahead of the surge with our clinical resources on asthma, including pragmatic guides, online learning, podcasts and webinars.
