Charlotte Merrett PhD
Dr Charlotte Merrett completed her PhD at the University of Birmingham with an interest in exploring factors and developing interventions for improving motivation and well-being in team and group settings. Charlotte has worked with a number of sports organisations in a research and applied capacity including Great Britain Hockey, the Lawn Tennis Association, the Football Association, and the Welsh Rugby Union, and presented research at National and International conferences. A former Wales and Great Britain field hockey player and junior international track athlete, including the Olympics development squad, European Championships and Commonwealth Games. Charlotte has a passion for creating healthy environments for the optimal development of junior athletes and teams in recreational and elite level sport.
During several years in academic roles, Charlotte has lectured in sport, exercise and health psychology at the University of Bath (including management of an MSc module applying interdisciplinary approaches to physical activity engagement in clinical populations) and has contributed to a number of initiatives focused on increasing adolescent engagement in physical activity for physical and mental well-being.
She is currently employed as a Medical Science Liaison Manager at Boehringer-Ingelheim Ltd with a specialist interest in COPD and asthma.
