Sonia Silk

Sonia has worked in healthcare for over 30 years, and she trained at King’s College London University. Sonia felt drawn to humanitarian aid and worked in high conflict areas such as DRC, Albania, and Burundi. This work functioned as a catalyst for Sonia’s interest in Public Health and upon returning to the UK she furthered her career in Primary Care, with an interest in respiratory. Sonia has been working as a respiratory specialist nurse across Gloucestershire since 2015 and is the Lead Respiratory Specialist Nurse for Gloucester Inner City PCN. This role has included becoming the clinical lead on a large respiratory Quality Improvement Project. Sonia particularly enjoys the training and mentoring aspect of her work. Her team are currently working on population health management (to target difficult to engage groups), growing neighbourhood teams and implementing respiratory group consultations. She won the ARNS award for ‘Respiratory Excellence’ in 2023.
