Diagnosis Decision Support Software

A clinical decision support system to improve asthma diagnosis in primary care: delivering a more accurate, personalised and understandable diagnostic experience by Luke Daines

We are delighted to have secured funding (Asthma UK / Innovate UK) for this programme of work in which we will use technology to develop a system embedded in primary care practice computers that will support healthcare professionals to assess the probability of asthma.

Through a partnership with primary care software (www.tactuum.com), data experts (www.optimumpatientcare.org), and collaboration with Carol Stonham and Noel Baxter (PCRS-UK), we will develop a clinical decision support system to aid doctors and nurses in their diagnostic decision making. A novel feature is that the system will aim to engage the patient in the diagnostic process by developing screens designed to be shared during the consultation.

The study will begin in May 2019 and we are currently recruiting for a post-doctoral researcher to join the team. To make this project a success we need input from primary care staff and patients, so if you are interested in contributing, do stay in touch!
