The #AskAboutAsthma campaign returns in 2025
PCRS are proud to have supported NHS England London’s #AskAboutAsthma campaign over the years.
#AskAboutAsthma is back this September for its ninth year, running from the 8th – 14th September, this year’s theme is One year on from the National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) report: Are we getting better at preventing asthma deaths?
The #AskAboutAsthma campaign encourages children and young people, their families, and those involved in their care, to ensure four simple and effective measures to help them control their asthma.
The four asks
- Get an asthma action plan in place
- Understand how to use inhalers correctly
- Schedule an asthma review – every year and after every attack
- Consider air pollution and its impact on lung health
This year’s campaign will comprise a half-day virtual conference on Wednesday 10th September and webinars for children and young people, families and schools on Monday 8th, nursing on Tuesday 9th and primary care on Thursday 11th.
Registration details will be published soon.
Showcasing your plans
A rolling slide deck will showcase local plans, priorities and achievements in CYP asthma at the conference - to be featured please email: england.cyptransformationldn@nhs.net.
If you are interested in running a local campaign - please have a look at previous years’ content (podcasts, videos and blogs) to see what might be most relevant to your local priorities – there is so much there and most of it is still up to date and useful.
If you have any queries about the campaign please contact Rachel Lundy and Stacey Bedford copying in england.cyptransformationldn@nhs.net.
Looking ahead to the 'September Surge'
A marked rise in hospital admission rates for asthma among young people occurs during September and 'week 38' specifically. This is also known as the 'September Surge' and the #AskAboutAsthma campaign takes place the week prior to raise awareness of the issue.
Take some time this summer to prepare ahead of the surge with our clinical resources on asthma, including pragmatic guides, online learning, podcasts and webinars.
