Supporting Smokers to Quit in Pregnancy

5 Ways To Support Smokers to Quit

Smoking when pregnant restricts the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the baby.  For newly pregnant Cath, that means additional risks of miscarriage, still or premature birth, poor growth and develpment, a low birth weight or sudden unexpected death in infancy.

Infants of parents that smoke are also more like to experience respiratory and ENT problems.  Help Cath to quit by making her aware of the risks including hazards of exposure to passive smoking.  Do VBA at every antenatal review.  You could also involve partners and family to support and sustain a quit attempt.
