Linda Lomax
I am a nurse practioner with a special interest in respiratory care. I am the respiratory lead in the practice that currently has around 39,000 patients across 3 sites. A large part of my day to day work involves diagnosing and treating respiratory patients in general practice and I have the advantage to have a close working relationship with our secondary colleagues which I have maintained over many years. My passion for respiratory care started about 20 years ago when I was first introduced to the GPIAG now known as PCRS. I have been involved in numerous local initiatives and I sat on the executive committee of the then PCT where I worked to made respiratory a priority. I took time out of general practice to pilot a COPD nurse specialist job in our local community in which time I campaigned tirelessly to obtain funding for Pulmonary Rehabilitation and a better standard of education around respiratory disease for the local nurses.I am ARTP registered for Spirometry and I am trying to encourage anyone locally involved in respiratory care to undertake the training. I have recently set up and managing a local respiratory network in Bedford that I have affiliated to the PCRS and because of that I have joined the Affiliated groups committee. I am currently attending the PCRs Leaders courses which I am finding invaluable.
