New grants launched for research into improving asthma diagnosis

Category

Asthma UK is inviting applications for its 2018 Project Grants which will support research focused on developing tools for quick, accurate, scalable and low-cost diagnostics in asthma.

The grants are being launched with co-founder Innovate UK, which supports businesses to develop and commercialise new products.

Research can be focused at any stage of the innovation pathway, however, a clear pathway to adoption or commercialisation must be articulated (including estimated timescales). Any collaboration with partners who can drive research outputs to adoption/commercialisation must be evidenced, and projects which are likely to achieve impact for people with asthma in the short to medium term (5-10 years) will be prioritised.

The awards will be worth between £50,000 and £250,000 and will be available for up to three years. The deadline for submitting applications is 1pm on 27 March 2018.

Asthma UK has also launched a report, “Asthma Diagnostics: A 21st Century Challenge”, which identifies key research and policy solutions to meet the challenge of asthma diagnosis.
